At the moment Multicore Rendering works just fine without using "mat queue mode 2", but I still have to disable Vsync, because if I don't I get terrible input lag. And I mean very noticeable input lag.

I guess my Opera installation was kind of broken because it was being upgraded since 10.50 and has endured a lot of fiddling around in the settings and such.

At the moment I have reinstalled Windows and therefore Opera as well, and I admit the problem is gone. Everything works as expected. Maybe I should format from time to time (it has been 3 or 4 years) before trying to hack my way through such small problems.

I like using MS fonts in Linux because ...
1) that way you can view most websites like they were intended to look (just using Sans-Serif for arial, verdana, trebuchet MS, lucida ... doesn't cut it because they sometimes screw up the layout and are uglier than the intended fonts in general)
2) you can view documents the way you could on any platform
3) I think they look nice and are smaller (but still readable) than the default fonts in linux and even ubuntu. I just cannot achieve the same level of space usage optimization when using fonts other than Tahoma (or Segoe UI, a font I like very very much, although it isn't as space saving as Tahoma)

This guide is also partially a solution to make fonts look the same for every type of application, be it based on GTK or Qt or whatever.

The whole reason I did this was to create a cross-application and even cross-platform kind of uniformity of looks. Just like when I install some exotic Linux fonts in my Windows.

And why on Earth would you want those hideous MS fonts? The 'ubuntu' font looks so good. Size (if you really think it's too big) can be changed easily too..

I've also got to point out that this doesn't happen on any of my systems (Windows, OSX and Ubuntu) with Opera 11.

I must point out that this problem does not exist on my recent, fresh install of Opera 10.63, so your point may be moot.

Hmm, interesting.
But watch out: setting mat_queue_mode to 2 used to make all the screenshots you made black. I'm not sure if that's still the case today though.
